Sony DVD drive

hi,
i have a sony vgn-n11 that has a aw-q540a dvd cd drive in it. the lens is broken on the tray. any ideas if the lens can just be replaced or do i need a full new drive. the disc spins but cant be read. would other manufacturers fit as u can only get it from usa?
any help is great.

Hi Alan and welcome to Club Vaio.

It is almost certainly a full drive replacement.

Are you still within your Sony Warranty? If so I would contact Sony Vaio-Link Support and see if it qualifies for an 'in warranty repair'.

Hi Alan and welcome to the forum.

I doubt that a repair, if possible, would be economic as you can purchase this drive for less than $100 from the USA (including shipping charges).

Assuming that you are out of the warranty period have a look here .
