WiFi is not working?

I have problem with my vaio fe 31z . Wi Fi works only when my laptop is conected to main power , when is working only with batery gets very slow and is not able to open new web or disconects me from messenger. I can stil work with excel or word but no way to play on line

Its likely that the power management is taking over
If you go to start>settings>network connections
right click in your wireless connection>properties

click on the Configure button next to your wireless card name (usually Intel Wireless xxxx)
then the advanced tab
scroll down to power management
untick the automatically setting box
and set it to the highest

see if that helps
note that having this on the highest will sacrifice some battery life as the wireless card >should< run full power
