We are talking a physical switch and not a software switch?

My TR5 has both but the physical switch turns on both bluetooth and wireless, so there is a software option for enabling only one or both.

Assuming your laptop had the right connection for a wireless card it would follow that another model with the same motherboard had wireless capability as standard.

My only suggestion would be to search out this model and try to find out where this switch attaches to the mobo. If its a simple two wire connection (which I doubt as its probably integrated into a circuit board and linked by a common ribbon cable.) you could "jumper" the connection and leave it permanently on.

Unless you can do that I am sorry to say I don't think you can ever use it.

I hope I am wrong

People on the TR5 Forum routinely upgrade their elderly slow TR1 wireless cards in the same way as you but they already have an existing hardware switch.

PS One possible solution! If you can see where another model has the switch you may find the underlying circuit board on yours has a vacant area where a switch would reside. This may offer you a solution by bridging the correct contacts to simulate an ON position.

You may find this place helpful regarding parts diagrams,

NEXTTRONICS

They are american model numbers which are different, but they had a much wider range of GRS models which may be the answer.

Unfortunately the site seems to be down when I looked.

The link in my earlier post is the only place I know with parts diagrams.

Try this other .LINK

The front door doesn't work but this way does!

The GRS 300 has a switch in the front panel (No 11). It seems to function with PWB (No41). I think No 41 is a PCB with all the little front lights on. This seems to be the board that the switch is mounted on.

Hope it works out for you..
