Nope not quite...

Close but no cigar as they say...

Windows XP does indeed have an annoying little taskbar glitch that states that the battery is still being charged even when it is at 100% charge level. There is *NO* solution to this whatsoever, bet even Microsoft don't acknowledge this as a KB issue...

If a Sony computer *DID* choose to keep on charging the battery past 100%, and given the battery is the Lithium ION type, then (and this is no joke) the battery would explode.

Once the battery reaches 100% (fully charged) the computers charging array for the battery is disabled. The battery is then disabled and the computer uses the DC input from your AC Power block connected to the mains.

On a K-Series machine the battery lamp stops flashing at 85% charge, on all others its 80%. Once the battery reaches these levels the slow 2 hour charge begins. This is because the battery is rapidly "trickle" charged to 80% in around one hour or so, but to run at full capacity, the slow portion begins at 80-85% and can take 2-4 hours dependant on the PC and battery used.
