Hi bmccruz,

Something similar happened to me two times when I was changing settings in vaio power management. After applying changes my screen went black (no even mouse pointer) and computer stopped responding --> hard shut down and restart --> like nothing happened so I didn't bother too much.

No idea what happened...

All I think is that some bad experiences I've had with my A417M for £1300 shouldn't happened... or isn't vaio what I thought it is?

If somebody know, please let us know...

Thanks

Hello i use a VGN-FE11S and i had lots of times a black screen but that's because i use a lot of times very graphical programs . And when it goes black it's for two reasons :
a) the java that you're useing isn't good so when you start any java application it gets black , i recomment you do the following thing go to sun.com and download the JRE 1.6 beta version sometimes you can't uninstall the JRE1.5 version or it gives problems , it's a problem of JAVA a bug or something

b) if your screen just flashes like for 1 second black and then returns back to the normal screen it's because of the interrupts , maybe it's to much to process it from the CPU or there is a conflict between the two cpu's i don't know , ask the engineers who developed it
