Horizontal Lens Flare

Lens Flare Xperia 5 iii

I've noticed some horizontal flaring on several pictures, notably trees with the sun behind. It seems to be only while using the 70mm & 105mm lens. Just wondered if this is a typical effect with a small phone sensor, fixed aperture and a periscope lens assembly pointing into the sun. Don't seem to have this issue with other pictures. It's not really a deal-breaker, loving the phone and camera though.

Looks almost biblical mate.

Tbh you will see these sun flares in almost any camera in such situations, yeah the zoom seems to amplify it somewhat, but I actually like the affect.

It's just the full brightness of the sun punching through gaps.

this was the flare I got off a 15mm leica lens on a X5s camera, when the sun is partially blocked, those rays always come through

Cheers dude,

Yup, I do expect some lens flare pointing to the sun but it was just a different effect from anything I've seen before . Just have to remember whenever I'm taking similar shots in the future, I do kinda like it though.

Nice picture btw, bet it was cold up there

It was on an inspire 2 drone, so at that moment, I must admit to being in the heated car 🤣🤣🤣
