I have a Bravia 4K UR2 tv and am using an external western digital 4TB HDD for recording. The HDD drive has been working since I first purchased the smart tv and has been used to record 100’s of programs so obviously it’s correctly formatted and registered to the tv.
My problem is that the usb regularly looses communication and fails to identify any of the recorded programs.
The only recourse to correct the problem is to disconnect the HDD for a minute and re-connect it. I have also tried resetting the tv by holding the power button for 30 seconds which doesn’t correct the link, I have also gone to the main menu/ device preferences/ Storage / where the drive is identified correctly and provides the option HDD Deregistration.
This link failure is actually very frustrating and happens on a regular occasion.
