Hello
my Sony tv has switched off and keeps blinking a red light. I’ve counted the blinks and it blinks 6 times before stopping and the restarts blinking again. I’ve taken the plug out and reconnected it. When I switched it on it started to do the google logo but switched itself off again. I tried to do the factory reset but I don’t think that worked. I’ve taken out the plug for more than 2 minutes but still does the same thing, cuts out and has a flashing red light.
what do I do, please help.
A red flashing LED is not a good sign it is possible something major has failed on your TV.
How old is your TV is it still under warranty.
Click on this link to the Sony support site,

or this,

If you follow all the tips and there is no change then you may want to consider a repair,
which if not done under warranty could be prohibitively expensive.
If so how about a new TV for Christmas.
Hi
thank you for answering. We brought the tv back in 2019. yes the tv is under a warranty from curry’s/pc world when I purchased the tv so we’re going to ring them first thing in the morning.
I’ve been through the steps up to step 4 where it says about making sure the tv is up to date. The tv won’t stay switched on for long enough for us to check. Is there another way to check to see if it’s up to date?
These TVs don’t flash six reds because they are out of date….😢
Can you remember what version of software your TV was on?
There was recent update available for your TV at the end of September this year,
click on the link below.
Click on Firmware update to v6.7720 the next page will allow you to download the update.
Scroll down the instructions and read the section on how to put the update on a USB stick
and use that to update the TV.
However I would be quite surprised if by attaching the USB to the TV would initiate the update process
since the TV is refusing to start up in the first place, but no harm in trying.
In the meantime look out the guarantee policy from Curries and any policy number details
you may need to quote on the phone.
Hey Jennyw2023, you need to try a "forced" factory data reset, it's described here: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00274122
If not, and you're within warranty, you should contact Sony as this isn't repairable, and the whole TV should be replaced.
Hello
sorry for the delay. The notification only came up on my email yesterday. I just tried the forced factory reset. I followed all of the steps correctly but the tv still switched itself off and flashing red light 😕. Curry’s pc world dm should have collected it last week but they still haven’t. It’s covered by one of their care plans. Hopefully 4th attempt of collection is tomorrow
Hey Jennyw2023, glad to hear that, good luck!
