LOSS OF SOUND ON 6-WEEK OLD OLED TV

On switching on my KD48A9 OLED TV last night, it was completely silent. Picture perfectly good as usual.  I could do nothing to solve it. I tried various tweaks to the settings in the Sound category.  Nothing.  The TV was purchased in the last quarter of October and I was in despair.  Finding nothing on screen to help I went to the Sony site on my PC, where I spotted advice to reboot the TV: you turn it off, then point the remote at the screen LED at very close range and keep the remote button pressed for about 5 Secs.  Bingo, sound returned.  I still have sound, but no certainty that this won't happen again...and again...and again.  What caused the sound to fail?  Worrying.  Am I alone?

My same TV is only 2 weeks old, so will let you know if i ever run into this problem. But glad to see you resolved it, and posted the method for others.

This sounds like a glitch, could be a power glitch or a software glitch.

 

Sony is actively sending out updates so make sure your TV is always up to date and hopefully this won't happen again.
