Sony KD-55AF8 - Changes colours when streaming Dolby Vision

Hi

I have a KD-55AF8 and when I stream Netflix/Disney+ shows that is in Dolby Vision the colours change.

I have tried to turn off all different settings that "enhances" the picture but it did not help.

If I stream a show from Netflix that is a 4k stream the picture is perfect.

It is similar or the same as this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo9EKvmrceI

I have rebooted the TV and I think it was OK for a little while but then it came back.

Do you have any suggestions on what I can do?

Hey @andhas, what is your current software version? As it might be a software glitch, make sure that your TV is up to date from here.

I have the latest firmware installed.

Have you tried a factory data reset as well?

I have the exact same problem and have to power cycle it. Obviously some software glitch that can not be reset without a hard reset of tv (power off at wall). Sony need to acknowledge and fix this as it's embarrassing that their flag ship TVs are essentially broken for Dolby vision content.

Hey @ mapupil37, have you got the latest software version? Also, does it happen with a specific app? It'd be really helpful if you uploaded a picture.

Software is up to date yes. It mainly happens with Disney+ app (but that is probably only because they have a lot of Dolby vision content). It is like the TV is trying to automatically detect the colour grading or white balance and getting it completely wrong: changing the colours every time the scene changes. It's incredibly annoying I don't understand why there haven't been more complaints. I have reset all picture options to default settings and it still happens. But turning the tv off and on again from the wall then resuming exact same content makes it go away (which seems like a software problem).

No, I'm not trying nonsense suggestions. It's a bug. Sony need to fix it.

Hey @mapupil37

Well, if you're sure that it's a software bug then it might be resolved with the next firmware update.

So let's hope for the best I guess.

Cheers.
