Error sending messages

When I send messages to someone it says "Cannot send message. There is no valid recipient". So I tried deleting the contact and made a new one but with the same contact number. And when I tried sending a message to that person again it can. Why is that so?
Does this mean that I have to delete and make a new one every time I encounter this?

Try settings-apps-all-contacts,force stop and clear data.Restart.Backup the contacts before trying this.
