Giga Juke

I have a sony giga juke.  It will not turn on using the remote - it is showing a blue flashing light as if it is in standby but the controls on the unit or the remote will not work.  This happended before and I had to turn it off at the mains.  Has anyone had this problem.

Hi alanh8

I'm sure you're right, but maybe there is a common denominator in all this mess!!!

Hi for the record

I am using:

The supplied dongle

the supplied router which is connected via the supplied lan cable to my internet router.

This is the same set up as I have always used.

As a side note:

Has anyone noticed a decline in the signal to the slave boxes ?

and to the tech guys, as someone posted sometime ago these things are constantly chattering away to the web so is it possible that someoen has found a way to somehow 'talk' to them and sent some kind of 'virus' ?

Have i maybe read too many books!!!!!!!!!!!?

is it possible even ?

Hi start the car,

I too am using a NAS-SC5 using the supplied dongle but with a Bellini wireless router and Plusnet as my broadband supplier.

This may be a silly question but of those of you who reformatted your systems, did you run the unit for a while before reloading your cd's ? I'm wondering if the problem still arises without any Hdd tracks! Not that this would help as a music server but it would help isolate the problem to something to do with the ripped tracks and possibly gracenotes.

A question to the moderators, how many cd's have you ripped and have you imported any any tracks from say an iPod or memory stick?

Also, in your previous post you said that you can reproduce the problem at all software and firmware levels but then go on to say that your two units are working fine since the "fix" was put in place so I say again WHAT FIRMWARE LEVELS are you on !

Hi Start the Car

Further to your posting regarding the enviroment I am operating using please see below.

Gigajuke NAS - S55HDE

Wire connected Via

Huawei Echolife HG532 ADSL+ Router (and connecting to the internet - tested by calling up gracenote to obtain  the latest info following installing a new CD)

Gigajuke NAS - SC55PKE

Wireless connected Via

Buffalo AOSS wireless station using AOSS - (I have not tried the S-IWS connection)

Edit extra info added  - This in turn is wired to Huawei Router - as per wired internet connection instructions in manual

Edit  Extra info added 2 - Have just noticed that Buffolo AOSS light is flashing constantly - suggests that a AOSS connection is being made but I have checked and the NAS - SC55PKE is connected and playing music  sourced from my NAS- S55HDE (it also can find my SONY Notebook when I interogate it)

SInce yesterdays re boot and reapplying the fix (Tuesday 8th November 2011) the system has operated in principle as per the manual.

All of my music is installed intially via CD (600 albums) and then following a transfer to a 64GB stick and reformatting the hard drive in September 2011 following what I thought was a local issue reloaded via that stick.

(One other point of interest the first time it failed I found that it had lost its wireless link to the Huawei Router and since then it has not been able to find/talk to it wirelessly even though they are adjacent to each other and yet it can find my neighbours !)

Hope this helps in your trawl for information

Regards

Simon

Morning

I can take no credit for the temporary fix, I am merely the messenger from our engineers to you and back again.    As one of you suggested, it was as a result of our local engineers, and our engineers in Tokyo, taking a look at the issue you and other customers had reported and working out a way to maintain the majority of the functions while we  worked on a more permanent fix.

Initially this problem was thought to be with the units connecting to Gracenote, however this was quickly discredited.  We now know it is linked to the systems automatic  updates.  However, we are still not 100% of the exact cause and so the investigation in Japan is still on going.  As soon as we are sure, I will let you know.

On a local level we have been using the information provided by this forum and from our other customer contact points to eliminate certain areas .

As there are a number of different configuration on these products we need to work through each one individually in order to reproduce your symptoms. During the most recent tests, we have found one such configuration that is now showing similar results to the ones reported by you in the last few days and we need to compare against what you have.

We appreciate that a lot information has been provided earlier in the thread, I have been asked to squeeze a little more info out of the community.  If possible, we would like you to confirm the following

Model.

Software version number.

Symptom, (when does the product lock up, what is on the screen, What is the Blue light showing)

After carrying out the reset (stop and Power buttons). Do you see the below message?

GigajukeError.JPG

As always, any and all feedback is very welcome, however, in this specific case, may I ask you to restrict your answers to this specific post to just the information requested, it will make the process of running through answers much quicker and enable easily add it to the rolling report we send to the product team.

I fear that my previous forum posts did not really do my colleagues or this process justice, and I apologise for any frustration or concern created by the picture I had painted.  I can assure that the engineers here and in Tokyo are working their socks off to sort this out.  For my part, I will do my best to better represent and communicate their efforts  and make sure you receive daily updates, right up to the point it is fixed.

Thanks

Lee

Gigajuke

NAS -S55HDE

Extender box

connected to BT Broadband HUB2 in Wired connection.

Power off unit and Auto sensing (blue lamp) flashes slowly , this occurs after no CDs have been added for months.

Trying to power on from remote  - no response from Gigajuke - extender cannot connect to Gigajuke.

Reset Via power button and stop and unit goes into restoration mode (as per your pic) then will power off. If you turn it back on (from remote) it will repsond as per design. Once you power off again the whole process is repeated. i.e auto sensing and no response to remote.

I cannot confirm software version as my box is with Sony Agent.

If someone can tell me how to do this then I will reply in full to lee .

Thanks

Good morning Lee.

In response to your questions:

1) NAS-S55HDE

2) 1.01.00

3) Has now happened so many times, I am unsure of exact details, however the system locked up (Power on/off button would not work) after I looked up the software version this morning.

Previously the same had happened after playing 3 CDs.

Blue light "pulsing".

4) Yes

Thanks in anticipation

Tony
