Does anyone know what type of analogue cable the ST HT 5000 sound bar accepts?
Hello @Kwt1947,
you can see the in- and output-connectors on the spec-sheet of the soundbar: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/sound-bars/ht-st5000/specifications
According to the manual the "ANALOG IN"-port is a 3.5mm stereo jack (TRS).

Thanks Nic.
Just bought a Yamaha DAB+ tuner (serious classical music person), which I want to use via the sound bar. Will a TOSLINK 3.5mm jack into the sound bar with a optical cable fitting at the other end into the tuner work tuner work?
Hello @Kwt1947,
if your DAB tuner has an optical output (which is a digital connector), you can simply connect a full size Toslink full size Toslink from the tuner to the soundbar.
The 3.5mm audio jack is e.g. to connect Chinch outputs on other devices to the soundbar via a male chinch to 3.5mm stereo stereo audio jack cable.

Hello Nic,
The tuner does have an optical cable outlet, which I've connected to the opitcal input on the soundbar titled TV IN (OPT). This being the only choice. Also tried optical out of tuner into the jack input on the soundbar, which only accepts 3.5mm. Both solutions produce no sound from the soundbar.
Notice that the product specifications says: Analog Audio In (Inc TV CEC) / Out (excl. tuner) / TV (CEC): Yes (not inc TV CEC), Ethernet, Opt. In, USB
Hello @Kwt1947,
did you use the cable before?
If you bought it new, it could be, that you left the end-protectors on one (or both) side(s) of the optical connectors.

Took those plastic see-through protectors off before using. There's nothing in the manual about connecting a tuner (seems to be rare these days that people buy them). Is there anyway of contacting Sony support direct? Thanks for you help.

There sure is: http://services.sony.co.uk/supportmvc/en/Contact/Email?cpint=spt-footer_contact
I though suspect that the solution is rather easy.
Maybe
