Hi,
I can't get my device to go into any modes - flashmode or fastboot mode. I have my device turned off, hold down the back (or menu) button, and finally connect the USB. The green LED flashes for less than 0.5s and then continues to charge mode with battery icon. I want to refresh the firmware in my phone using PC companion (the latest version) but when asked to put the device into flashmode the PC doesn't detect it. PC companion has installed all the correct USB drivers on my computer. Does anybody have any idea why the phone won't let me enter these other modes?
Thanks
try this
instal SUS > restart your PC > disable your firewall and antivirus > run SUS > try again

Ok thanks.
Have tried that and the phone still goes into charging mode while pressing the back key and connecting the USB connector. SUS doesn't pick up the phone to do the update.
Sequence of operation is
disconnect phone from USB
turn off phone for 30s
Plug USB cable into computer
press the back key
plug USB cable into phone
....and it's meant to enter flash mode
mine displays Sony Logo and then the battery icon still.
I think something in the bootload is corrupt or not working properly.
google JAVA download and install it on your PC, btw which OS do you have?
I downloaded the latest JAVA release and have tried to reflash on a windows 7 and a windows xp machine. Neither OS works.
that's odd, and you followed my advise (disable your firewall and antivirus)?
Yeah. I disabled both the firewall and the antivirus software and still no joy. I've even tried to reboot the device into fastboot mode by issuing command using the ADB drivers and flashtool but not still the same. Not sure why I can't even get into flashmode either.
Even I got the same errors.
This is what I did.
Switch off the XPS.
Hold power up+power button till 3 vibrations.
Then tried fastboot/flashtool mode
Worked like a charm!!! :smileysmileythumbsup:
dont work again
I can't put my Xperia Arc S into flashmode too, only in fastboot mode. Holding "Back" button (and a lot of other combinations), but indicator still blue.
