Error cannot connect to media server

I have a KDL55W829B that recognises the movies on the media server but when you select the movie you want to play it can't load it up and says it can't connect to the server. Diagnostics says it is connected and must be to see the movie list. I can play the same movies on my phone so I am not sure why the TV cannot do it. Can anyone help?

Hi there

 

Can you confirm if the files you are trying to play conform to the following supported codecs:

If so, is your tv connected to your neteork via wifi or lan cable.  If using wifi, try using an ethernet cable instead - at least for a test.

 

What type of DLNA server are you running?

Thanks for coming back. To answer your questions;

 

1. TV and DNLA server are connected to the router via a lan cable.

2. The file format is MKV - these will play using VLC on my phone

3. I am using a WD my book live as a DNLA server
