i only got my FS315B yesterday, and i was transfering some files from my old computer on CD-Rs, however the 4th disc wasnt being seen by the dvd drive, it was trying to read it, but nothing was coming up on my computer and i couldnt access the disc. I have checke dthe drivers there fine, device manager says the drive is fine, and i haven't knocked the laptop or anything - its been sitting in the same place since i got it out the box.
any suggestions or do i need to call sony to have it repaired?
Is this the Matshita UJ840D, or the DW-D56A optical drive?
Either way it would appear to be a hardware fault but check on Vaio-Link for a firmware update brfore contacting support as they will suggest this anyway.
thank you, yea its the matshita one.
A firmware update has been posted recently on www.vaio-link.com:
Firmware update for MATSHITA UJ840D optical drive
Version : 1.03
Ok, the description is rather vague:
This firmware update solves issues regarding reading certain DVD-Discs
But still worth a try, right?
