A217M CD/DVD ROM PROBLEM

Recently I have updated my optical drive with the latest update and my cd/dvd rom only reads dvds.I have used the recovery cds and the latest updated again but still nothing.Can anyone help ?

I also have a 6 month old A217M and the DVD refuses blank DVD¿s. It reads and writes to CD and I can still read from DVD¿s which have already been written to, but when I put a blank DVD in it malfunctions and appears not to recognise the disk (it doesn¿t sound right either).

Any answers appreciated, I¿ll let you know how I get on when I send the A217 back to Sony.
