I have just purchased an AR3131S laptop and have found the following problems.
Having just bought a number of blue ray movies to watch on the laptop I get a message on haflof them that says the disk id region B and the device is not. I assume region B is Europe so does this mean my machine is an import from outside the region. I purchased it from the Soney Centre in Milton Keynes.
I have a year old 40" KDL-V40A12U HDTV also purchased from the Sony Center and expected to play movies on it from the laptop
Anyone any ideas??
Hi Paul GB and welcome to Club Vaio.
First thing to check is that you are using the latest version of WinDVD BD to play the Blu-Ray discs. Have you downloaded and installed the latest software from Vaio Update3 and from Windows Update?

I had the same problem with my AR31S. WinDVD BD was playing DVD's withouth any problem, but when using a BD it came up with the same message of wrong region setting. If you bring up the settings on WinDVD you can see that the settings are wrong. The DVD settings were changed to Europe, stating that 4 changes could be done in the future, but the BD settings are still set on USA, with 5 setttings allowed to be done. To me it looks as the just forgot to do also the change on the BD settings. And the problem is that the selection is shaded so you are not able to change it. However if you start WinDVD BD (independently, without autostart by an inserted disc) you need to click on the "toothwheel" symbol, can't remember if right or left click; then you get the same setting windows, but this time you are able to change the region settings for BD....
After that no problem. Hope this helps, otherwise I need to look it up a bit closer. That's now just from memory....
