Does the VGN-S4M/S support more than 1 GB RAM?

I just bought a VGN-S4M/S today and was wondering whether to buy 1 GB of RAM (2x512) or 2 GB of RAM (2x1024) - I've seen it advertised that this model supports both 1 GB max and 2 GB Max, and don't want to waste my money. The specs sheet that came with the laptop says 2 GB, but the sony site says 1 GB, and I can find hints to either around the web. Crucial don't even have the model on their site =/

So can anyone help in clearing this up for me once and for all?

Thanks a bunch =P

Sony has only 512MB molules, then you can be upgraded to 1024MB =2x512MB because it has two menory banks. So, Sony site is correct, only 1GB now, but the laptop supports 2GB.

The VGN-S4M/S may be has 2x256MB=512MB (two banks used), I'm not sure about it, but you could use CPU-Z to test it:

You don have to buy them from Sony, you can just go into pcworld or wherever and buy them from there.

Yeah, I'm gonna buy the memory from crucial... so it'll work if I get the full 2 GB?

It might be worth sending crucial an e-mail.
