Error on shutdown on VGN-T2XP

I get the following message on shutdown:

Apntex.exe - Application error

The instruction at "0x66007bfd" referenced memory at "0x5f070f5a". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

Apntex,exe is a program associated with the touch pad pointer. Has anyone any ideas for a cure please.
