FR415B Graphics update!?

My Vaio has an ATI Radeon IGP 345M which i have set to 128mb shared memory! this is good enough for most programs that i use but i was wondering if it is possible to update the IGP on a laptop just like you can buy another graphics card for a desktop tower? any information would be helpful!
cheers! mark.

Hi Mark,

No it's not possible as it's an integrated card, in other words, stuck onto the motherboard.

Removing it would be drastic to the motherboard, and as there are no replacement type chips, it's inpossible.

There are talks about removable mobile graphics cards for newer notebooks, but price and availability, doesn't look like it'll happen soon.

I wonder how that would work? Some manufacturers have a big problem understandably with people opening up their laptops to fiddle inside I can see it being a headache for them.
Aside from that, what is the big hurdle in removable graphics cards in laptops?

Space is the big hurdle, and making it accessible.
I guess they could do like a BIOS chip style, still there's a long way to go...
