Frequent need to reset!!

Hi

I have had my 40GB VP for about 2 months and during this time (I use it daily) I have had to 'reset' it about 8 times as it keeps hanging. Generally what happens is the music will jump a couple of times then it will go silent although by looking at the display it is still playing. Then once you stop and try to play again or fastforward to another track then the disc access icon at the top left keeps moving as if it's trying to locate the track but isn't able too. If you try anyhting at this point it won't let you (including attemptig to switch off) and then you need to use the reset button.

This is doing my head in (as you then have to reset the time and settings etc) and I wondered if it was a common problem or if I have a dodgy one.

I purchased the VP after a long process of deciding what MP3 player toi get and based my decision almostsolely on the fact that I have lots of Sony products and have never had a problem with them.

I would appreciate anyone's comments if they have suffered similar problems.

Thanks:smileyconfused:

Mine will do that if the battery is low, once it has been reset it seems to work ok.

I'm thinking back fondly to the days of the minidisk and how little trouble they were, now I spend more time transferring, sorting, re-installing software, re-charging than I do listening to the music.

As the VAIO Pocket uses a hdd you need to make sure that you do not shake it to much or abuse it anyway such as dropping it or banging it on things as this can cause faults to occur and a possible loss of data and having to send it to sony for repair and then never seeing it again:smileysad:
