i did a search and couldn't find anything to help me. Gone through the manual that was packaged with the laptop.... checked through the 'my documents' on the laptop.....

How long it takes to charge possibly 6+ hours, however the battery supplied with your Vaio is a lithion ion battery and can be charged at any time.
The power meter icon (by the clock) shows the status of your battery.
