I have had to put a new hard disk drive in my PC and don't have the original CDs which came with it which contain the drivers for the original hardware. I know I can go to
http://www.vaio-link.com/downloads/register/register.asp?l=en&p=preinstalled
to download them, but only if I know the product code and serial code of the PC. Given thet they are definately not stuck on the chassis, how can I find these out ?
Thanks

Try looking in the Bios.
Try looking in the Bios.
VL's server is dodgy at the moment
Good news
Indeed the Product & Serial Code were right there on page 1 of the BIOS. Alas when I tried to use them to download the required drivers I got a server error.
So I went over to http://www.vaio-link.com/model/check.asp?l=en
but was told that I was not using a VAIO or did not have ActiveX enabled (wrong on both counts).
So I went straight to the files I needed (T2_Drivers.zip and T2_Utilities.zip) at ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/Vaio/Original/
Now I'm back in action.
Thanks.
Glad its sorted, last link is very useful.
Vaio-Link doesn't seem to be too well most of the time, at the moment.
