Java applets cause max. zoom and blank screen

Whenever a Java applet is run on my VAIO VGN-FE11S, my screen goes blank for a few seconds, before the Java applet appears at maximum zoom (the VAIO's zoom function is automatically activated), with nothing else visible. This has happened since I bought my VAIO in March 2006. Sometimes, pressing Fn-F10 will cycle through the different magnifications until it gets back to normal, but often this won't work and the only 'solution' is to hold down the power button and shut the machine down that way. Apart from being incredibly annoying, this is also a great way to cause data loss, so I really need to find a solution.

As my VAIO was this way out-of-the-box, I would guess that I'm not the only one who's experienced this problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

This is not IE or OPERA problem. This is chipset new updated drivers problem for NVIDIA. If you installed JAVA from SUN, Just trying to open C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_07\bin\javacpl
or another applet and you''ll see what will happen next.
If screen getting off it's mean that your NVIDIA dravers have a BUG. Try to reinstall (roll back) old drivers for NVIDIA. In my case all is working again OK.

No, it's not getting off. Java works fine. And I have that problem just at few sites and just in Opera. (Deutsche-Bank.de worked fine in Opera but doesn't work now)

It starts after driver update. So, "roll back" then.

:smileyrolling_eyes: this makes me tired

Same problem for me!

I wish some new nvidia drivers on Sony Update!

I prefer not to roll-back!

Is there any way to ask Sony for new drivers which fix this very annoying problem?

Instead of spamming this forum with very similar questions please could you consult the help we've offered or see VAIO-Link?

I'm sorry! I'm not spamming! I need Java to work and...

I cannot find help about this on Vaio-Links!

Please, could you give me the links to the right pages?

Thanks!

If you go to the eSupport section of the site - then you will be able to post a question to the techs.

They can take upto 48hrs

I am sure Sparky fixed his problem in one thread

Ok! Thanks! I will try the e-support,

but please do not mark me as a spammer
only because you are sure this problem was fixed!

I searched a lot on the forum and on Sony Vaio sites before starting to write and I found a lot of your posts saying it was solved, but no one saying how! Therefore I still need help on this.

The only solutions I found are: use Java 1.4 (so I should DOWNgrade and not UPgrade as you usually write) or use the OLD nvidia driver (and you say we should update... and I think the problem started AFTER I upgraded with VAIO-Update) or turn off graphical acceleration (and I do not know how to do it on the very strange new look nvidia panel - and I do not want to do it).

Well, I apologize for sending a lot of messages,
but it makes me very upset being marked as spammer
by someone who suppose to know how to solve the problem,
posts a lot of messages and does not post the solution.

Bye!
