Just a few basic questions!

Just got my VAIO pocket and I have to admit it's super cool in every possible way apart from SonicStage of course.

Though I still have a few questions, so here they are:

1) Why does the battery discharge after use?

2) All my music files are encoded at 192 Kbps will this drain the battery life of my player?, are their any better rates which would suit my player better if my current rate (192) isnt convenient?

3) Does anyone notice the G-Pad gets confused/weird sometimes?

4) Could you guys post some links with other compatitble headphones they must be SONY? (price dont matter)

5) Any person know where I can get a case for my player, It would have to be delievered to the UK?

Thanks in advance guys!

Really happy with my player, and it certainly is the IPOD killer.

Ipods = common = simple = apple = <profanity removed by moderator>!
Sony = Vaio = style = sturdy = Class!

Dont ask my why i wrote those 2 lines lol ^^^

Hi ya,

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forum!

I agree the VP is great, and I have no problem with SS either.

To answer some of your points:

1. The player "stays live" to maintain the clock time and to allow you to waken it up with the remote. We would all prefer it didn't though. You just need to keep it on the cradle when not using it I am afraid.

2. ATRAC encoded files are better than MP3's for battery life as the player was optimised for ATRAC (of course)

3. Not usually, although you want to set it up if you control it via your thumb (as I do)

4. Different people use different ones. You should take in your player and try before you buy. I bought some Sony over ear cans and they work well with good sound.

5. http://www.microanvika.com/product.asp?TXT=INFO&PNO=SON19417

The case is excellent and good value. I would recommend it.

Good luck

2) The lower the bit rate, the longer the battery life.

4) Here search for VAIO pocket, apparently £9.95 plus delivery.

ok thats great!

I'm sure I'll have some more questions within the next week!

Infact I have one more at this moment,

What is 'Groups' In the main menu of the VAIO player? As it only really shows 'Genre' in alphabetical order?

Is their any other differences than this?

Hornby,

I think groups means genre.

Welcome to Club-VAIO by the way

to get 100% battery full, turn off and charge for about 6 hours, youll get a little 'plug' like symbol instead of the usual charging symbol

re. new earphones, I just got some sony ex71's for my new vp and they are excellent. Fit snugly in the inner ear and come with a split cord siutable for remote controls. Got mine from amazon for about £25. Highly recommended.

I use Panasonic RP-HG50 headphones, hook over the ears and wrap around the back, quite good, nice bass.

The groups part of the menu, that lists the order I have transfered the music over on mine, I use it to find an album quicker if I have put it on recently.

You can get a VGP-CKP1 case from www.geraldgiles.co.uk

They had a few in stock about a week ago. It is the same case as advertised on the Micro Anvica site , but I'm afraid it's £39.99 not £9.95 (Micro Anvica have no stock and will not be re-stocking the item as it is discontinued)
I've had one about a week and it is really quite good - but , like most SONY case, overpriced !!
The only fact that may go some way to justifying the price is the fact that the packaging seems to be in Japanese , suggesting that they are not intended for the UK market and had to be "imported".
