Just problems...

I'm getting sound problems on my vaio VGN-FS415E. I don't know what to do. I think i'm best starting afresh. But I thought, I don't have a XP cd so how am I able to start afresh? I have a Vaio recovery utility on my pc that says it will restore the laptop to "its original factory state" what does that mean? Is it when I purchased it? like with all the trial software on it and xp installed ready for me to set up?

Please help, i'm really nervous.

Sorry, I don't think i've worded that very well. Basically what I mean is if I use the Vaio recovery utility will my pc be the same as when I turned it on for the very first time of purchasing it?

Also is it easy to use the Vaio recovery utility? I have two hard drives, will this make the process easier or harder?

If anybody could offer me help and advice i would be very happy.

Don't be, as you said the factory defaults means like the day you bought it.

Thanks Kee-Lo. Can I ask, is it an easy process? and do people resort to using it often?

Thanks

it's very easy, and it's meant for anyone to use, no matter what skill level they are at.

A lot of people have done it here

Thanks for the help and support. I'll be looking to do it within the next hour. However there's just one final thing

Once I go through numerous options I come to the "Recovery menu" Its asking me whether I want to recover drive C, C and D (change partition sizes) or finally a complete recovery. Which do I choose if I want everything back to it was the first time I turned my vaio on?

Thanks once again

You want complete recovery.

Remember to back up your emails and favourites, oh and files you cannot replace (photos, documents etc)
