Laptop 3D BenchMarks

Hi there i did this on the old Club Vaio forum, and that was back in April, since then some new Laptops have arrived on the scene.

So below is listed the laptop manufacture then the laptops model number and its result in the 3D Mark 01.

The higher the score the better the laptop performs during 3D work. So a computer with a higher 3D score will be better at things like CAD work, Playing new 3D games like FarCry etc..

There are other benchmark software packages availbule from futuremark like the PC Mark 03 and 3D Mark 03 which i shall post the results of some time soon. These tests need Direct X 9 installed where as 3D Mark 01 utilises Direct X 8.

Another bit of software is Aquamark which i might get round to runing.

Realy want to get my mits on one of thoes to, but our buying office down south in there infinate wisdom has decided that only the top 5 branches will get them for display, altough we can order them for sale.

I have tryed my hardest to get my hands on the A115 and the A117.

So if any one out there has one would you mind rinning the tests and posting your results.

Will keep tring to get one up to the branch for us to look and and will give feedback if I can.

Yes they're impressive - I would say probably one of the best looking VAIOs in the time I have been on the board.

As you can see there is quite a sperad of results here. The VGN-S1XP looks to have the best all round score :smileyapplause:. Where as the PCG-Z1XSP has the poorest scores.

Remember this doesnt necessarly mean that the machine is bad, its just not sutied to this kind of work.

77 is quite low for a 3D Mark test though ?

Yep but that machine has integrated graphics and could only run 1 of the game tests.

Does the A series have integrated graphics?

Just had a look and they all have a ATI MOBILITY RADEON¿ 9200 and 64 MB VRAM.

This is the same that is in the PCGK215Z but this machine has a P4 so it might have a different outcome depending on a few things such as RAM size and speed and bus speeds.

Put a request in for the A range again so hope to have them soon. Then will get results posted.
