Hi, just wondering if any1 else has this problem and knows how to fix it. When i transfer music from sonic stage on to my VP and afterwards take out the Usb cable i find that some songs come under a completely different artist! whats the deal? hopefully real player will support the VP soon, its the job if you ask me, i hate using albums to sort out my music.
Hi,
I know what you mean!! SS can be very picky!
I have found that when you transfer in one lump it is terrible, I highlight all the albums I want to transfer (hold down Ctrl as you click on each album) also the Groups menu is made up of the source name given to the album and that can sometimes be different to the album title causing all kinds of bother!
I have now resorted to editing the info from the CDDB before I attach it to the CD to suit how I want it to work, I have created my own genres and use those.
I hope this helps

Thanks Boss,
Still think its a bit disappointing that it happens, i'll mess about with the source, that seems to be the problem. and if that doesnt work some sony support employee is gonna get it in the ear ! i'll reply again if i figure it out
Hi, I am glad were getting somwhere, Try this too to save time!
This has helped me when altering album info,
If you double click an album you get a list of tracks.
Highlight all using Ctrl & mouse, right click and you can change the source / genre for all the tracks at once.
I have used SS for about a year now and im still sorting through all 25 gig of it!!!
Its like a new hobby!!
Once you have it sorted though it's OK , and you are getting the better sounding Atrac format too!

your a certified legend my man, it is the source that you have to change- at one point i thought my vp was faulty, thanks very much. yeah ive been selecting it all at once to edit common info, thanks (from my experience of real player i wouldnt expect anything less !, although too bad you cant do exactly the same thing directly on the VP) I dont even wanna think about sorting through 25 gigs of music, 5 already melted my head ! (just keep tellin yourself patience is a virtue)
I didnt realise atrac is better than mp3, or is that what you mean? i understand about bit rate but do you mean that atrac at 128 is better quality than mp3 128?
In most cases the quality of an ATRAC 64kbps file is better than a standard MP3 encoded at 128kbps.. Most of my mp3s are encoded at 192kbps, and ATRACs on ATRAC Plus 105kbps (or similiar).. I generally only encode it ATRAC for the lyric option (rather useful).
I've got 80GB of music, and sorted out most of it by now.. Luckily most of my music has correct ID3 tags - it's just adding the album photos which is a killer!
