Hi,
Got a Vaio PCG-K115Z.... nice laptop overall I guess.
I need a serial port tho, as I deal with mobile phones on a daily basis, and the communication is done using the serial port.
Anyway, not got a serial port on here, and have tried the cheap USB to Serial convertor from www.ebuyer.com but it doesn't seem to work with the Vaio, altho it does with my Samsung V25.
Anyone got any suggestions for what I can use?
Thanks
There's nothing much you can do if the USB workaround doesn't work. Check if there's a docking station for sale?
Hi,
I have a VAIO PCG-Z1RSP and I use USB to serial adaptor with no problem at all. I use both WXP and linux and it works fine on both.
Did you make sure you got the right drivers for your adaptor? It can happen that Windows does not recognise the hardware, so you need to get and install them.
Good luck!

Docking Station maybe the only option now.

Yep, installed the drivers that came with it (ser2pl.sys), it was a prolific usb 2 serial adaptor... all 3 of them infact.
Just got a different type of one now... Belkin one, will try it tomorrow.
Cheers
