Budget dictates more than anything else. Still find it hard to justify the costs that Sony force for a desktop unless it is a Media Centre and these are just too 'bleeding edge' at the moment to be a wise buy.
The W1/W2/V1/V2 type machines are OK but you do have to be careful how you use them and the heavy-handed are going to have a bust machine very quickly.
Power Supples are not Sony's strong point in the desktop arena so if I were you I would budget for a decent Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) if you do go down the Sony route.
