Recently, my laptop threw a wobbly and started crashing randomly. I took it to my university IT office, they analysed it and said it was a system board failure. I have managed to get all my data off my hard drive via a data recovery source. Vaio are the only people who are able to fix it.
Has anyone got any idea of the ball-park for the cost of this repair, the time it would take for vaio to look at it and repair it?and would it be worth it for an out of warranty, nearly three year old laptop..? or shall i go on a little computer shopping spree..
Thanks,
Dave
There are a lot of different expirience on this forum some positive some negative, so you can always to try. The costs that VAIO ask you are: 150-175 euro only to analise your problem. Then they will sent you another bill (for reparation) wich you can accept or refuse. They promise that it will take about 10 working days to do all thinks, but certanly it is the medium time.
Not sure what they're charging for fixing the GRX series....
Not sure what you mean by that post..
what is an average cost for a system board and labour by those at sony?

Well at one point people on here posted it was near £800 altogether - then another poster recons £300
Both of those are in the region of new computer terriatory - could get a dektop thats twice as good as my laptop for 300.
Looks like there's not much point spending that money to then have a computer thats still 3 years old.
thanks so much for your help.

No problem
Shame though as it's a nice machine.
Did Sony give you any indications?
