I have a VGN-FE21H and have a VGP-PRFE1 docking station to go with it. The first time I docked the computer into the station the computer launched the found new hardware wizard. It first of all found a new SATA drive bay and successfully installed that. It then found a new Ethernet Controller but couldn't install the driver for this (and I couldn't find one on Vaio-link). Consequently this means that the network port on the docking station doesn't work. I have to use the network port on the laptop instead which works fine but is annoying.
All of the USB ports and the power port on the docking station work fine though. I haven't tested any of the other ports.
Does anyone know a solution to this or know where I can get a driver from please?
Hi electrolyte,
Have you tried using the same driver that your FE21H uses, as it states in the manual that specifications are the same as those of the notebook you are using...
VGP-PRFE1 docking station manual
Hi Thalamus. Thanks for your answer. I used the driver from my recovery DVD and now the docking station works perfectly. I asked the same question on e-support and they said I had to reinstall XP MCE to get it to work. You idea was much better - a shame you don't work for Sony Support but I guess you;d be too helpful to be appreciated there!!
You're welcome, I'm glad your docking stattion now works...:smileyhappy:
