Problems since updates

I have a Vaio VGN-A417M. It recently notified me that there were updates available since I have installed the updates I have incurred a number of problems. My dvd rw no longer works, the eject button no longer works, the volume buttons, the brightness button, the S1 button and the magnifer button no longer work!!!!

Has anyone else experienced these problems!!!

Hi Flynner,

Yes there have been recent reports of an update causing problems with the function keys and I suspect that it is the Vaio Event Service update that is causing the problem.

I suggest that you download the original pre-installed utilities for your model and install the following in this order.

1 Sony Utilities (install folder 1)
2 Sony Shared Library (install folder 2)
3 Vaio Event Service (install folder 7)

Then re-boot.

As I assume that you have an updated ‘Vaio Event Service’ it may be necessary to uninstall this first.
