Hi,
I have one PCG-GR114EK model of VAio laptop. recently it got infected with some trojans so I formatted the whole of C: partition of the hard drive. But when I tried to restore the system (that is windows 2000 and the other drivers) from its restore cds, a very strange problem is coimng up. a Message "NTLDR missing, press any key to restart", is only coming up.
But when I tried to install the whole system with another spare hadr drive, then it is showing that- "OPERATING SYSTEM COULD NOT BE FOUND" and it is not at all reading the restore cd from my dvd drive.
Recently I changed a part- I changed the factory fitted combo drive (MATSHITA UJJDA710) with a new TOSHIBA SD-R 6372, all the more few days ago my laptop fall down from my study table on the floor carpet and after this fall the memory is sometime showing 256MB sometimes 512 MB (512 MB is installed).
Can anybody help me to sort out this strange problem of non-installation of system from the cds?
Regards,
Chandan
Sounds like you have a bad disk, the second one that is. The NTLDR missing message is documented online and some help is offered.
