Hi all,
Just a quick question. Does anyone know what the response times are on the 17Inch XBlack Screens on the VGN-A Range of laptops
Cheers
You mean how many Hertz?
No idea.
My 15" display on my K115b is locked at 60Hz - so I assume it isn't going to be terrifically higher on a 17" display...
I could be wrong about that though...
I thought it was closer to 100Hz (flicker free)
Could well be - but its not likely to be that adjustable because of the intricate nature of LCD screens, inverters, GPU's etc...
They are all interrelated... The screen being the limiting factor...
Thanks for the info, however I actually meant the response time of the screen in ms ie 25,16 or 12, the refresh rate for these type of screens doesn't matter as they work in a totally different way to CRT's and are naturally flicker free due to the nature of the technology employed.
For tft's the response time in ms is far more important, the older ones were around 25ms, these were awful for watching dvd's or playing games as you would notice a tearing as the screen tried to keep up, 16ms or lower is ideal and most decent screens are now at least 16ms.
So 12 is cool then?
Yep Kee-Lo 12ms is brill for a tftg screen, means you wouldn'r see any tearing in games or films...Only the best quality screens are 12ms, I believe some of the new 19Inch ones coming out are now.
Well I have no idea what my screen response teams but I have never noticed anything other than excellent visuals, no keep-up delay or whatever. Which I guess is the mark of an excellent screen. Say what you like about Sony computers, no matter how brilliant or crap the computers are the screens never let you down.
Sounds great.
Same here TT, the GRX has an amazing screen and it's > 2yrs old.
