Restore my computer

I have a sony VGN-FS215Z, and my infrared receiver and my remote control stop to work again !!
Last time, nobody from sony support could help and I had to recover my computer. Now it was ok until a week ago, so I will try to restore my computer to one week ago. I know that all installed programs during this time will be erased, but I wanted to know if I'm going to loose also my emails from the outlook, as well as the files that I worked on the Word?

Don't worry. System Restore monitors mainly System Files and Registry Keys.

System Restore does not monitor any files of any type in your personal data folders. Your files in My Documents, any JPEG files and any E-mail files managed by Outlook will not be deleted or restored.

You can view the list of file types that System Restore monitors on your Vaio in C:\Windows\System32\Restore\Filelist.xml
