Should I upgrade my software?

Hiya people!!

hope its all good in your part of the world!

I'v had a vaio PCG-GR214MP notebook for a couple of years...and it has performed well...so far!

i recently registerd my notebook, and saw that it is due a few upgrades....bios etc.

wanted to know if this is recommended or not? or seeing that im not having any problems...should i just stick with the "status quo"....any help and comments will be appreciated!

one other problem i have, is when i connect the notebook to the TV (via tv out port at the rear of the notebook....via phono & video lead to the TV), whilst holding the function key and F7 switches what you view on the notebook monitor on to the tv....so you can play your movies on the big screen.

thing is....its a bit hit and miss....sometimes it works.....most of the time it doesnt.....the audio is always present but not the picture (so it cant be a problem with the cable)....

any input on the 2 above issues would be most definetly appreciated!

If it aint broke then don't fix it. This really does apply to BIOS updates, graphics drivers, firmwares and other drivers. Software updates are important though, and can often give you more functionality

thanks....was a similar philosophy that i had in mind!

but any idea on the second issue....the TV out and getting the pic on the TV every time?

is there a right way (or wrong way) to go about it? to ensure it works 100% of the time?
