Software Updates and Drivers for PCG-GRX616SP

Hi,

Got a PCG-GRX616SP

On the page
http://ciscdb.sel.sony.com/perl/select-p-n.pl
I can't find my Vaio model to download updates and drivers.

And on the notebooks manuals section from club-vaio.com, same thing I can't find mine.

How can request it to be included ?
Or maybe you can tell me wich avaiable model is 100% compatible ?

Thank you.

I have the exact same model

Go here and log in with your serial number to find all available updates.

BTW what do you think of the machine?

Man, you rule !
This download page is perfect, thanx.

What I think of this notebook ?
THIS IS THE MOST POWERFUL AND COMPLETE ONE !

No other notebook from Sony Vaio or any brand as ever gone to this level.
The keyword "Desktop Replacement" takes its full sense with the 616SP.

Ok some new features are missing like USB 2.0 and Bluetooth, but hey, it has 18 months age, and it's still the most powerfull !

And considering the careless usage I make of it, it's a very resistant product.
But the keys are loosing their paint and some are even too much pushed and keep being half pulled down. Sorry I'm not good at English, hope you understand 🙂

And I'm very proud of the great bargain I made when I bought it 2200 euros when it was still at 5000 euros.

But But But... I'm beginning to think of buying a X505 with additional 19" flat screen or a A170

Glad I could help

Totally agree, very powerful machine even now, a pity there's no USB 2 :slight_frown: but I have USB BlueTooth dongle and Sony WiFi card so no problems for me really

As far as going for one of the newer models is concerned you might want to wait a little longer. Some of the newest models seem to be having a few 'teething' problems. Might be best to wait until Sony have tested them a little further

I'm very happy to hear how resilient your machine has been. I've had mine for just over 12 months so am now out of warranty

Wow look what I just found ... VAIO Pocket Digital Music Player
Can't wait it to be avaiable in France !

This is exactly what I always dreamed.
It was almost that with the Network Walkman Digital Music Player but their were only 20GB instead of 40GB, and no color screen

Sony, you really really rules.
Is that common to idolate a brand ? I know some loves Nike or Dior, well I love Sony.

(And did you see Qrio and Qualia ?)

Thanx for the advice ...
I'll buy a VAIO Pocket Digital Music Player to calm my Vaio shopping frenzy

But what are you calling 'teething' problems ?
I don"t understand this word.

When a new product is released it often has problems that the manufacturer corrects for later ones.

Most people on this forum also love Sony

Not too keen on Sony customer service though :slight_frown:

Never had to deal with the Sony customer service
Is that bad ?

Only problem I had, I blowed my power thing (How you call that ?) because I left it under the rain 🙂
And the shop where I bought the Vaio (Darty) lend me one to wait for mine to be exchanged.
Done in 2 weeks.

Yes the GRX series is still great.

My GRX316MP is now 2 years old. I didn't join the club straight away.
