Hey,
I have had my Sony Vaio FS415m for around 2 months now, and think its brilliant.. :smileygrin:
My only question is I am a big Command & Conquer fan and with the new C&C3 on the way, I dont think the 6600 PCI-e will be good enough to run it on the 1280 x 800 ress in Medium quality so Is is possible to upgrade the graphic cards in these machines?
My current spec if it helps is;
Intel Centrino 1.73 Ghz, 1 MB L2 cache
15.4" XBlack display 1280 x 800
nVidia 6600 PCI-Express
1024mb DDR2 - PC4200
Regards
Adam
Hi Adam and welcome to Club VAIO.
Only a handful of laptops have upgradable graphics chipsets - most (including your Vaio) are soldered to the main board and share memory with your RAM.
This is new technology and will become more common (once everyone has agreed on a common interface).
EDIT: The Sony specifications for your Vaio say you have
nVidia GeForce Go 6400 graphics
Strange,
On the box it says 6400 but in the Graphics card settings/nvidia control panel it says 6600
Curious indeed!
Thanks for the help anyway about the upgrade, I guess il just have to buy a new laptop
Adam
