sound recording on the VGN-FS315H

I tried to record sound from tape and record player, using the microphone input because there is no audio line in on this notebook.
it doesn`t work. do i have to get a docking station for a audio input?
or a pcmcia soundcard with a line-in plug to make it work?
at the shop, where i bought the notebook they can`t tell me and sony
hotline is not sure aboute it. great!
does anybody know something about it?
