SR11K hard disk upgarde recognition problem

I bought an IBM 100GB drive to upgrade the 10GB already installed in the notebook. Unfortunately I said to partition the drive using the recovery CD - which appears to only recognise the first 10GB....

I have upgraded the Bios to the most recent available - but its not helped. Its not a LBA problem - its on in the bios.

Does anyone have any suggestions how I go about upgrading the laptop?

My thoughts are to reformat the drive by installing it into a PC (running XP) - I have an adpator - but thereafter waht should I do?

Do I need an external piece of software?

Any help gratefully received...

Hi punkieys,

Older computers do have a BIOS limit for the size of hard drive that will be recognized.

You could try the route of formatting the drive in another PC but I am not sure that this will provide the desired result. If not then I suggest that you try a 40 Gig drive.
