Upgrading my Sony PC

Just wanted to know is it possible to upgrade my graphics card on my pc? I currently have the PCV-RX405 with a NVIDIA GeForce MX460 graphics card. Can I just take it into any a computer store. is there any good online places that can upgrade it? Cheers

Yes, you can take it to a store, but if you know what AGP speed it runs at, I'm sure you can find something suitable and fit it yourself.

Download and run Aida32 from www.aida32.hu/aida32.php

It will give you more information about your system than you will probably ever want to know.

I've just tried Everest Home edition from http://www.lavalys.com it is also very good.

or download 3D Mark 2003 tells u all about ur PC
u need to check if compatible AGP x4 or x8 depending on card u wanna get, also chek power supply some cards require 400 watts

i have a RX 501 which i assume isn't all that diffrent to yours and i was able to put a Gforce FX5900 no problem eventhough my sony is only 275watts (apparently sony has good components and can handle more)

if u r not sure the i suggest u bring ur PC to computer store to chek with them (even if u don't buy ur card there) it would suk if u got a 300$ card which won't run

u might also want to add an extra fan to cool down ur computer (they r cheap, a simple noise bloker is less than 15$ and silent less than 20db) since graphic cards can generate a lot of xtra heat even if they have a built in fan

Im back. just found its supported 1x, 2x, and 4x and is currently running at 4x. After having a look around most of the top ones are 8x ( hard to find any specific 4x). I did find one on ebay that said it was compatible = NVidia Geforce FX 5950 Ultra 256MB AGP DVI any good? will it work on my computer? cheers

Greg has a similar one so it should work
256 MB graphics card should be good, and I found the Geforce not to be too bad.
Still I perfer ATi

The technical information provided by any reputable manufacturer will tell you if an AGP 8 card will work on an AGP 4 slot, although I doubt that will give you any problems.

I've just gone through a similar process and my new card works fine, or as well as the restrictions Sony implemented in their OEM BIOS will allow.

But, sorry, that is a different story.
