I have a sony notebook with 256 meg of ram. It is running too slow and I want to install more memory. The handbook says it can take up to 512 meg but would prefer to go to 1 meg. Is this possible and is it safe. Anyone with experience please help
Thanks
My model is PCG - FX701
It's not that bad with 1GB
Hello everydody
(What's up Kee Lo?)
I've bought 512 Mo and ad it to 256 Mo.
So you say that upgrading more than the capacity recommended is dangerous for the mother board? or for the performance?
I made this mistake since several years.
I will try to put only 512 and take off the 128 installed.
I 'll check this soon.
I believed , it could run faster ,because I makes music and need more performance for low latency.
What a pitty.
P.S:Don't pay attention to mistakes
Hey Cutee Jazz, long time no see.... how are you?
Yes if you can get 2x512MB you'll get better performance
LOL
Hi Kee-Lo
I'm fine and you?
Yes there's a long time I didn't came here .
Less time,more works,more music
I saw an other 512 Mo memory on a shop. But I was wondering if it was good idea to upgrade the memory. Because on the Sony's VAIO PCV-RX1 specifications they said "maximum RAM - 512 " (you can see it on the manual "Sony VAIO user guide "PDF)
Maybe if they said it's maximum, maybe there's a reason?
I have nowaday 768 Mo (512+256)
Am I right ?
P.S: dont pay attention to mistakes
Hi Cutee Jazz,
According to Orcalogic the PCV-RX1 can accept up to 1GB memory.
Sony have been known to understate the max memory on a number of models; no idea why:smileyconfused:
Hey CJ,
I'm well thanks Glad to hear you're still doing music
Rich is right, Sony do tend to underestimate their machines
