Vaio K215S has P4 2,8C yet no HT, why?

why have sony decided to use a P4 2.8C which supports hyperthreading, but have decided not to take advantage of it?, HT would give the laptop a fair boost in performance over a no HT CPU.
*puzzled look*

Yes HT would probably improve things no end, but its up to Sony and Intel... I mean it would be nice to see HT technology more often... It ultimately depends on what you use your VAIO for.

Some people say HT hinders some processing.

Wonder if thats why Sony are treading cautiously on this one...

they should at least give users the option of using HT, like a HT enabled bios for download.

True, but Phoenix BIOS and SOny tend to lock these settings down - and they are probably unlikely to change that :slight_frown:

Couldn't agree more.

I have this exact same problem.....HT processor but I'm not allowed to use it! Frankly I'm starting to get extremely hacked off with Sony's attitude of forcing you to do things their way, especially when it's a crap way.

I know, it's frustrating...

Quick question if I may.
I'm a junior novice with PCs and processes etc but on my desktop RZ504 I've got a 3.4 GHz P4 with HT.
I might have misunderstood the point you were making but is it likely that although I've got the HT it is not being used?
