Very poor DVD playback on Vaio-S3XP

When trying to watch DVDs on my new S3XP the quality is extremly poor. Bright areas gets blocky and blinks, the colors seems to be quantified. For example instead of a smooth transition between black and white you see a number of strips.

I have tried with several DVDs with same result. The settings is to use both Playback and color HW acceleration and the general display settings is to use maximum HW acceleration.

I have tried both WinDVD and the Windows Player with the same result so this seems to be a HW/Driver issue?

Any ideas?

Welcome to Club Vaio. Try this codec pack http://www.codecguide.com/download_mega.htm it is brilliant but uninstall your media players first (except WinDVD). Get all the updates from Sony Link and this diagnostichttp://www.tune-up.com
