Hi,
I've been having problems with WIndows Media Player on my VAIO laptop.
I've tried several versions, uninstalled it and re-installed but it still won't work! Media Players runs ok but when I play a song there is no sound at all. Ive done all of the usual checks and the volume is turned up and any other programs that generate sound like SonicStage, etc are fine.
Any ideas?
what happens when u run windows media player? your talking about V9 i assume..
similary does your laptop have no sound atall? in any programs or media? or is the sound issue just related to specific media players?
that sounds very much like a driver issue tho
left click on volume control, open volume control, uncheck mute buttons
sorry right click
Doh! He said all other programs work with sound just fine. In my experience problems with one program are usually down to just a setting in the program itself. Are you sure it isn't something really obvious like the Windows Media Player has the sound muted?
Next to the volume slider in WMP is a button with a speaker picture on it, when you click on it it mutes everything, click again and sound comes back. Slide the slider all the way to the right and try it.
And if all else fails, you could uninstall WMP v9, and download v10. It's still in Beta, but might be worth a try.
Incidentally, SP2 reinstalls WMP v9. Strange, presumably the latest version has new security features.
Apparently Alan they're waiting to release it secretly along with their store sometime next week.
Think I'll give that a miss - rapidly running out of disk space:smileysad:
Sorted!
It was the mute option in Media player!!!!!
It has taken me months to sort that one out!!!
Thanks for all the tips!
