XP PRO upgrade on A417S Notebook

My VGN A417S is now working fine having had a replacement HD and DVD drive. Anyway my Q? is regarding upgrade to XP PRO. Has anyone tried it and if so any problems?

There are no problems in upgrading to XP Pro – the struggle starts when you need to install the Sony applications. I have done this but didn’t need or want any of the pre-installed applications, just the utilities - no problem there as they are available on Vaio-Link.

I assume that you desperately need one or more of the additional features that XP Pro includes?
