Bad quality sound with the speakers

Hello everyone,

I've been using the z4 tablet for some days and the sound of the front speakers seems to be pretty bad. There's always a white noise when any sound is played, whether it is a notification, a video or music.

I've had the first tablet exchanged but the second one has exactly the same white noise problem. This does not occur with headphones, so I guess either Sony used bad quality speakers, which I doubt, or there's some software bug.

Anyone experiencing the same thing?

Update - I received a replacement device from O2 today and it has exactly the same problem, which leads me to believe this is a widespread issue. I am within my cooling off period but I'm hoping I can get some answers from Sony about this so I've emailed them with a link to this thread in the hope that they will be able to do something. Its so frustrating, it's an expensive tablet and I don't want something that is unfit for purpose from being brand new. Let's hope they get back to me with some answers!

Is there any chance of recording or videoing this sound issue?
I know it's a pain but I just cannot replicate these audio problems on my O2 Z4 so i cannot fully compare.
Thanks.

Piotre22 posted an audio clip at the top of page 7, mine sounds exactly like that. Have you tried listening to a very quiet song at below 40% volume? Is there absolutely no static? Mine is terrible to the point it's unusable unless I'm listing to some heavy loud music. My original Z tablet however is a clear as day!

An update on my tablet - last week after my last post I sent my tablet to 'Sony' which I later found out, to my disappointment, is actually a third party repair centre called SBE who don't specialise in Sony devices. They have dispatched it back to me today with 'no fault found'.
I'm so annoyed, I've sent them an email again explaining the issue with a link to this thread because there's clearly a manufacturing issue here that Sony have failed to acknowledge.
To have two brand new devices with the exact same issue would indicate that it's a pretty widespread issue and not just a handful of dodgy tablets. This issue spans back a year and seems to be affecting people in various countries so I doubt it's a batch issue.

A side note - I actually work for O2 and have done for 9 years so I'm not a stranger to this kind of technology. I have tried every form of troubleshooting and consulted colleagues that have even more technical expertise than I do, and all we can say is it's a manufacturing issue. Getting Sony to acknowledge this seems to be harder than I thought. I just thought I'd have a better shot sending it to Sony than getting it exchanged again by O2. I could ask for another exchange but I reckon it'll be a waste of time.

It's just so frustrating when you know there's an issue and can't get it sorted. Next will be a complaint procedure if I get no joy via email, unfortunately I'm out of my 14 day return period so I will be stuck paying a 2 year contract for a poor quality device. It's one of the most expensive tablets on the market too despite being over a year old. It was recalled from sale in store a few months ago so I can't even test any in store for an exchange, it's only sold on O2's website now. Hoping for an acceptable response from Sony but not holding my breath!

Same problem started after more than year of use (WiFi only model).

Another opportunity to test out the Sony warranty service.

From what I've read is it even worth sending it for repair ?

Are we sure this is truly bad sound or that the audio processor is "so good" DAC?  that is allows us to hear the imperfections more?

I ran a really vague audio test on two devices. Using headphones that. One device I used voice recorder application from Playstore, the Sony tablet definately presented more white noise on playback, but the clarity was more precise, hard to say it.
