K550i Headset Calls Terminating

I have a K550i and whatever SE ear piece / wired headset came with the phone.  Around a year ago, the phone started terminating calls when I attempted to call out while having the headset plugged in.  I would plug the headset in, place a call, and the screen shows the connection attempt for about 1/2 second before terminating.  It has worsened progressively and now will not place a call at all. 

I've tried calling different numbers, removing and replacing the battery, updating the firmware / software from the SE website, cleaning the connecting wires thoroughly, and plugging the cord in after I've placed the call (which results in immediate call termination).  When I have the cord plugged in and someone calls me, the phone automatically answers the call and it will last for a little while (around ten minutes) before terminating. 

I own a bluetooth ear piece, which works fine.  Obviously, something is wrong with the phone and/or headset.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi,

I noticed your post hasn't been responded to so I'm here to help you with this.

Have you tried any other wired headsets with your K550i to see if the same problem occurs? This sounds like it may be an issue with the headset itself but we would need to test another wired headset with the handset to determine this.

All headsets have a 1 year warranty, therefore if you are out of this warranty period, I would suggest returning this to your retailer if possible.
